Friday parade in Telluride honors Olympian Gus Kenworthy's talent and heart

TELLURIDE, Colo. - Telluride is throwing a big party for Gus Kenworthy on Friday, thanking him for his hard work training for and competing at the Olympics.

Friday's party will include a parade, a mini meet-and-greet where fans can say hi to Kenworthy and have a poster signed, live music and a fireworks show at the end of the evening.

“I think it’s wonderful the town has so much energy and enthusiasm to put into celebrating Gus’s accomplishment,” Gus Kenworthy’s dad, Peter Kenworthy, told the Telluride Daily Planet. “I can’t express how grateful for the support we are. Everybody is so connected through him.”

It's not clear if Kenworthy's Russian puppies and Momma dog will attend the parade, but loud, crowded events are generally not the best place for pets.

Kenworthy won a silver medal in men's slopestyle skiing during the winter 2014 Sochi Olympics.
