DENVER - Four Colorado State Troopers were honored Friday during a ceremony at the Governor's Mansion.
Troopers Shane Gosnell, Brent Gilleland, Joseph Mack and Technician Garth Crowther were recognized with the Citizens Appreciate State Troopers Awards.
"We are proud of the members of our agency on a daily basis" says Colonel Scott Hernandez, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol. "When a Trooper goes above and beyond the call of duty to help save lives it is only fitting they are recognized for their efforts."
In May, Gosnell was riding with Trooper Eugene Hofacker when the stopped to help a motorist on the side of Interstate 70. As they approached, the driver shot Hofacker. Gosnell returned fire, killing the shooter.
Gilebrand and Crowther are credited with saving a critically-injured woman who had crashed off State Highway 17 during a low-visibility snowstorm on February 9, 2013.
Mack is credited with capturing armed robbers following a 100 mph car chase.
