FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A Fort Collins police officer was taken to the hospital after a collision with a suspected drunk driver on Monday morning.
Fort Collins police told 7NEWS that Officer Dawn Johnsen was driving eastbound on Prospect Avenue, near Lesher Middle School, just before 10 a.m. when a Honda CRV going the opposite direction swerved in front of her.
The officer took evasive action to avoid a head-on collision and the right front panels of the cars collided, according to police spokeswoman Rita Davis.
The officer, who was in a marked patrol car, was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Davis said the driver of the SUV, 62-year-old Raymond Randall Reilly, Jr., was being investigated for possible charges of driving under the influence.
