Fort Collins is cracking down on student renters.

City ordinance prevents more than three unrelated students from living in the same home.

The city started increasing patrols on New Year’s.

Homeowners have complained about the noise level from college students, who say the choice is about economics.

“We’re not quite Boulder yet with a $1 million host cost but I fear that we’re getting there unfortunately – so harder to pay for school, harder to live here, that’s what we have to take into account,” said Edward Kendall, director of community affairs at CSU.

CSU’s Associated Students Group is gathering signatures to get this policy changed.

Three unrelated people, who aren’t students, can live in  the same home.
