DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - A former youth pastor has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a girl who attended a youth group at his church Highlands Ranch.

Ron Hanavan, spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, said the investigation into Matt Capranelli, 41, began in June of 2012. The former youth pastor at Mountain View Community Church in Highlands Ranch is facing a felony charge of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

Capranelli was arrested on Nov. 13 in Pueblo and posted a $50,000 bond.

Detectives are asking for anyone who has information about this investigation to call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Detective Tony Garza at 303-784-7840.

This is the second announcement in two days from Douglas County about a sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that a former teacher and coach was arrested for allegedly committing that crime and several others.
