BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. - Firefighters were called to a former marijuana grow facility in unincorporated Boulder County Monday afternoon.
At 3:43 p.m., dispatchers received reports of a fire occurring in the 10000 block of Oxford Road. A passerby reported smoke and flames coming from near an outbuilding on the property.
Firefighters from both Mountain View Fire and Boulder Rural Fire Protection Districts, along with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded, and upon arrival, it was quickly determined the fire had spread to two outbuildings and was about a half-acre in size.
The two outbuildings were destroyed, but no one was injured.
It was determined that the 66-acre property was formerly known as "Grassroots," a legal marijuana grow site but it been deactivated. The property owner was notified about the fire.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear intentionally set, firefighters said.
