Flags in Colorado ordered lowered in honor of fallen Marine from Parker

PARKER, Colo. - Flags in Colorado will be flown at half-staff Thursday, in honor of a Marine from Parker who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month.

Cpl. David Sonka, 23, was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 4. He was assigned to the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Gov. John Hickenlooper on Tuesday ordered the lowering of the flags in Sonka's honor.

The funeral for Sonka is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Mission Hills Church, 620 S. Park Drive, Littleton. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
