DENVER - The first Dunkin' Donuts signs are going up in the Denver metro area.
The KFC on Broadway and East 4th Avenue in Denver has closed. The sign now says "Dunkin' Donuts Coffee & More Coming Soon."
Currently, there are three Dunkin' Donuts locations in Colorado, but they're all in Colorado Springs.
Earlier this year, Dunkin' Donuts announced it is partnering with three franchisees to open 30 locations across the metro area between 2013 and 2018.
Two locations at DIA will open in the next few months. A shop at the 45-minute waiting area just outside the airport will open in September. A location on A Concourse is scheduled to open in the fall.
"There can never be too many locations," said a Dunkin' Donuts spokeswoman.
Dunkin' Donuts started in 1950 as a place for coffee and donuts. Now it's expanded its menu to offer bagels, muffins, sandwiches, hash browns and more.
