Firefighting plane stationed in northern Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado has one small plane on standby to fight wildfires and another one is on the way.

A contracted single-engine air tanker was stationed at Fort Collins/Loveland airport this week. Micki Trost of Colorado's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management says another plane has been ordered but officials haven't decided where it will be stationed yet.

The U.S. Forest Service has leased eight traditional air tankers and plans to award additional contracts for a next generation of jet-powered air tanker planes in the coming weeks.
