LONGMONT, Colo. - A large fire heavily damaged a six-unit apartment building in Longmont Thursday night.
Photos taken of the fire in its early stages showed flames and smoke billowing from the two-story complex as firefighters battled the blaze.
The fire was located in the 1300 block of S. Coffman St. and was reported at about 9:15 p.m.
The back of the building fronts Main Street just north of Quebec Avenue.
Main Street was closed in the area to allow emergency access.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control around 10 p.m., and it appeared to be mostly out,, but was still showing flareups at 11:30 p.m. The roof of the structure burned away.
There was no immediate indication of a cause.
There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the fire. The Red Cross said it was assisting a family of four affected by the apartment fire.
