WINDSOR, Colo. - A field fire broke out at Boardwalk Park in Windsor, where Thursday night's city fireworks show was underway.
The fire could be seen on the north side of Windsor Lake where the fireworks were being shot off.
Our partners at the Greeley Tribune reported the fire appeared to begin about 9:45 p.m. in the area where the fireworks were launched.
"There were about were five to seven small fires that started from embers," eyewitness Kami Gilmour told 7NEWS. "It kept growing, embers kept dropping, winds were strong."
The fireworks display was not disrupted but moments after the show ended, firefighters moved in and began to fight the fire, according to a Tribune photographer.
The fire appeared to be largely under control by about 10:15 p.m., the Tribune reported.
