Father charged with child abuse in son's traffic death

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The father of a 3-year-old boy was formally charged in his son's death after the boy fell out of a truck and died from his injuries.
17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young said that charges of negligent child abuse and failure to use a child restraint were filed against Salvador Roman-Garza, 29, in the Aug. 15 death of his son.
Bryan Roman died after he fell out of the back seat of a truck driven by Roman-Garza in the 5900 block of northbound Highway 85 in Commerce City.
Roman-Garza was charged with one count of negligent child abuse resulting in death (F3), two counts of failure to use a child restraint (Class B traffic infraction) and one count of driving without a valid driver’s license (T2).
Roman-Garza was served with a summons and complaint. He is due in court at 8:30 a.m. on October 1 in Division 6 of Adams County Court for advisement.
