Westminster, Colo. - It's been said you can't right a wrong, but for military veterans, Katelyn Portillo, and her husband, John, that couldn't be further from the truth.
"I know alot of people don't get the support they need and they end up doing things they regret. I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't have those things to look back on," Katelyn Portillo said.
Last Thursday, someone burglarized a home on E. Ithaca Place in Aurora. The Portillos were keeping some of their belongings at the friend's home during their move from Louisiana to Colorado. It wasn't until they were unpacking on Sunday they realized exactly what was taken.
"It was just a regular camera bag and inside all the pockets because we were moving, we put all of the videos we have because they were small," Portillo said.
Portillo said the thief stole thousands of dollars of belongings including 13 mini DVDs containing family videos.
"So Christmas's, birthdays, all of that, everything I have in that bag and it's gone," Portillo said.
The small things have left a big hole. They now hope the person who got away with their family goods will have a little compassion and make things right.
"If they had any bit of love left in their heart, just give it back because that's all I have."
