FORT MORGAN, Colo. – Coloradans came out across the state Monday to honor the million-plus servicemen and women who have lost their lives fighting for the U.S.

One of the largest ceremonies took place at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, where more than 100 people gathered to honor those friends and family members who never made it back home.
Renee Grahn came to visit her father, who fought on Normandy Beach in World War II—and made it back alive, unlike many of his fellow soldiers.
“It’s pretty emotional anytime I come out here,” she said. “Even though my dad passed away 24 years ago, it’s still hard. It’s nice to come out and kind of talk to him.”
Matthew Prentup came out to visit his fallen father, who was an Army Green Beret.
“It’s one of the things I’m most proud about, is him being a Green Beret,” Prentup said. “I miss him and I didn’t get the chance to know him the way that I wanted to, so this is as best as I can do to do that.”
And still others came out to remember their fellow soldiers who they deployed with, but never came home with.
“It’s an honor to serve and an honor to be able to remember them today,” said Army veteran Mike Corbell.
