Extra officers called to stop 'erratic' driver in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs Police Officer had to call for backup to box in an erratic driver to get her to stop Tuesday.

The officer said the driver of a Buick Rendezvous was driving erratically on Academy Boulevard at 1:45 p.m.

The officer said he was concerned the driver was impaired and needed to be stopped before she caused an accident.

"Responding units were able to box the driver in, causing her to rear end a CSPD cruiser," Colorado Springs Police said on their website.

The driver and the officers were not injured.

Police said the driver was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

The officer's cruiser was not damaged and the suspect's vehicle had minor damage.
