Ex-Windsor principal sentenced to work release for domestic violence

GREELEY, Colo. - A former Windsor Middle School principal accused of punching his wife and breaking one of her ribs has been sentenced to six months in jail on work release.

The Greeley Tribune reported Doug Englert also was sentenced Thursday to serve three years on probation, complete 48 hours of public service, and complete domestic violence counseling.

The Windsor-Severance Re-4 school board initially placed Englert on paid administrative leave. He later resigned and retired from his position, the Tribune reported.

Englert pleaded guilty last month to felony menacing.

He apologized in court to his family, community and school board.
