LONGMONT, Colo. - As evacuations continue for areas of Longmont, some residents have returned to their homes only to find devastation.
Nearly every home sustained damage when the Saint Vrain surged.
Residents who were allowed to return to their homes began removing items due to the possibility of contamination.
Furniture, electronics and other belongings are strewn about yards throughout town and many homeowners did not have flood insurance.
Meanwhile, evacuations continue along the Saint Vrain and some residents are still awaiting rescue.
The Longmont Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water treatment plants are operating properly and within permitted limits, Jeff Satur with Longmont Police said Monday.
The drinking water is safe and will continue to be tested for safety, Satur said.
