Emily Griffith High School put on lockdown while cops search for weapon linked to street robbery

DENVER - Emily Griffith Technical College and High School was on a temporary lockdown while officers from two departments look for a weapon involved in a robbery.

According to a tweet from the Denver Police Department, they and the Auraria Police Department have arrested two people in connection with a street robbery. One of the suspects was caught inside the school.

According to Raquel Lopez, spokeswoman for DPD, the incident began with an armed robbery in the area of 13th and Santa Fe. The two suspects took off running towards the Auraria Campus. One suspect was taken into custody on Auraria Campus by campus police.

Apparently, the weapon involved in the robbery was missing even after both suspects were caught. That prompted the school to be locked down.

The school is located at 1250 Welton Street, in Denver. The temporary lockdown of the building ended around 1:10 p.m.
