BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. - Eldora Mountain Resort says it will open its 50th anniversary season Friday as a smoke-free environment.

The resort in Nederland says smoking will be banned in lift lines, on the lifts, and within 15 feet of its decks and buildings around the ski area.

"Cold temperatures which moved in last weekend allowed snowmaking operations to run through this week, providing a 20 inch base of machine made snow.," officials said.

Vail Mountain also opens for the season Friday for its 50th anniversary season. It will be dedicating a new gondola that has cabins with heated seats and Wi-Fi access. The new gondola won't be available for regular operations until later this month.
