LONGMONT, Colo. -- A woman in her 70s is short on housing options, so she's been living in her van, barely getting by.

Beverly Jensen, 78, says it’s hard not to notice a big blue van outside the Longmont Senior Center every time she comes to play cards, but she couldn't believe there is a woman living inside.

The elderly woman who calls the van home talked to Denver7 Monday. She says she has been homeless for several months and has been asking Longmont and Boulder County for help for months but not getting any.

"Nobody pays attention to somebody that doesn't have anything," the woman, who didn't want to share her name with Denver7, said.

Boulder County has 600 homeless people, and the Longmont Housing Authority says its 1,278 affordable homes are filled, with 300 people on a waiting list.

Since the story aired, Denver7 received several phone calls from viewers wanting to help as well as the Boulder County Housing and Human Services. A spokesperson says they will head out to the woman’s van to help her out with immediate resources.
