ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. - A school in Elbert County is closed because of whooping cough and other illnesses.
A student at Elbert School District 200 – K-12 was confirmed with whooping cough on Tuesday, according to Cory Stark, director of emergency management for Elbert County.
"Half of the school was out with sickness on Tuesday, "said Stark.
Because of that and the whooping cough confirmation, Elbert County Schools superintendent Kelli Loflin sent the students home Tuesday and closed the school for a week, Stark said.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 5.
Stark said the school is being disinfected.
