DENVER - Murder and child abuse charges face a man accused in the death of a girlfriend's child he was caring for.
Quinton Stanley, 25, was caring for 2-year-old Kemet Smith at a home in the 3800 block of Peoria Street in Denver. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at the home, where it was reported that a child was not breathing.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where a medical examination revealed he had suffered multiple head injuries. He was pronounced dead from drowning. Other circumstances regarding the child’s care were not included in the announcement of the charges against Stanley.
Stanley is being held without bond in the Denver Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
