DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - A missing 16-year-old boy with special needs was found on safe on Monday night, more than 24 hours after he left his Highlands Ranch home on Sunday, authorities said.
In an email, Douglas County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ron Hanavan said Ethan Ryder "has been located and is doing well. He is at an area hospital."
Hanavan didn't provide details on where the boy was found.
Sheriff's officials said Ethan left his home wearing only a red T-shirt and blue jeans just after noon Sunday. It was the third time the boy had strayed from home since Friday.
About a dozen people from the Douglas County Search and Rescue team spent Monday searching open space areas for the boy.
Ethan first left home Friday night but was found about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office reported. Emergency reverse notification calls were made to residents in the area by the sheriff's office.
It has been reported that Ethan likes to walk in the green belt areas around his Highlands Ranch subdivision.
