Two dogs were rescued Thursday morning from a house fire in Larkspur.

The fire started around 7:20 at a home on South Perry Park Road, near Fox Farm, at a two-story, single-family home, according to deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

When firefighters arrived, they found half of the home fully engulfed in flames, and the other half had smoke pouring out the windows, according to Lori Bonner with the Sheriff's Office.

Initial reports said firefighters were having trouble getting enough water to fight the fire and had to truck in water from a nearby pond.

Firefighters in Larkspur have dealt with several fires in the last six weeks.

On Dec. 30, 2015, a fire destroyed a barn killing several animals. Four days later, on Jan. 3, 2016, a fire burned a home in the 14000 block of Elk Park Road. The snow was so deep, firefighters had to walk in two miles with gear on. Once they got on scene, the structure was a total loss.

On Jan. 8, 2016, Larkspur firefighters were called to a garage fire at 8321 Sugar Loaf Drive. Fire damage was contained to the garage.

And on Jan. 20, 2016, a fire destroyed a home in Perry Park. In that case, the family's dog woke up the family and alerted them to the fire.

LouAnn Landen, who recently moved to the town, said she’s been hearing nothing but sirens as of late.

“The fire alarms going off,” says Landon, "is about all you hear.”

“I have been here for a total of 18 years and I have never seen us have that many fires in this short amount of time," said Larkspur Fire Protection District Chief Stuart Mills.

The Chief doesn’t anticipate another string of fires, but regardless the rescue will have to make due.
