Dog rescued after falling through ice at Hine Lake

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - Firefighters rescued a dog that fell through the ice at Hine Lake on Friday morning.

The West Metro Fire Rescue team was called to the lake on W. Coal Mine Avenue at about 6:45 a.m.

When they arrived, a firefighter had to suit up in special gear to go into the lake to rescue the dog.

"Fortunately, the dog and the firefighter who rescued him are safe," West Metro wrote on Facebook.

"Even with the colder temperatures, ice on metro area lakes is unstable," officials said as they reminded dog owners to stay off the ice and use a leash when walking your dog.
