Dog owner gets jail time in death of 4-month-old puppy named 'Mickey'

DENVER - The owner of a neglected puppy that died last May has been sentenced to jail time, probation and community service.
Prosecutors said Angelita Lopez, 27, neglected a puppy named Mickey.
The breeder found four-month old Mickey lying in a backyard in Denver, suffering with maggots on her back side, prosecutors said.
It was too late to save Mickey.
Lopez was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 12 months probation and 100 hours of community service.
Prosecutors gave Lopez until next Thursday to report to jail.
The judge also ruled that Lopez can not own a pet during her probation.
