EL JEBEL, Colo. - Authorities in Eagle County are investigating an animal cruelty case involving a small dog which appeared to have its head and a leg severed.
The carcass was found in Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel on Aug. 4.
Upon examination by veterinarians the dog appeared to have been approximately 2 to 3 years old and a breed of miniature pinscher or miniature pinscher mix. The injuries appear to have been caused by a human and not an animal, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. It released a photo of a dog that is similar to the one found mutilated.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone who has recently lost their family pet to contact them.
