School District 49 official shot to death in Denver

DENVER -- Police in Denver are looking for a killer who shot to death a Colorado school district official on Valentine’s Day.

The body of Richard Hammond, 63, and his vehicle were found just a half mile from his home near Bruce Randolph and York Street. Hammond served as the transportation secretary for District 49 in Falcon.

Police say Hammond left his Denver home sometime around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning but never arrived at his office in Falcon. He was driving a Subaru Impreza.

Police have not released a possible motive.
