Deputy, suspect hospitalized after high-speed chase, shooting in Fountain

FOUNTAIN, Colo. – An El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy and a suspect were both taken to the hospital after a high-speed chase ended with the deputy shooting the suspect.

KRDO reports that several law enforcement agencies were involved in the pursuit, which reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour early Tuesday. It wasn’t clear what led up to the chase.

The pursuit ended near Roaring Springs Lane and Roaring Springs Avenue, where a deputy shot the male suspect, KRDO reports. The suspect and a deputy both were taken to the hospital. It wasn’t clear how the deputy was hurt.

Several civilian vehicles and law enforcement cars were damaged during the pursuit and one patrol car even caught fire, KRDO reports.
