A bicyclist was taken to the hospital following a crash with a Weld County deputy Saturday morning.

The deputy was participating in a training event at about 11:10 a.m. when the deputy crashed with a cyclist at 83rd Avenue and Business Highway 34, in Greeley, according to Corporal Matt Turner, spokesperson for the Weld County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy immediately notified dispatch of the crash, and Greeley police officers arrived to start an investigation, according to Corporal Turner.

The cyclist was taken to an area hospital following the crash.

The deputy, who was in a marked vehicle at the time of the crash, was not placed on administrative leave as there were no clear violations of police procedure, Corporal Turner said.

Greeley Police are investigating the incident and the sheriff's office will be conducting an internal investigation, according to Corporal Turner.

The names of the deputy and the cyclist were not released by the sheriff's office.
