Deputies: Thief stole man's ID, went shopping with temporary credit cards

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to find an ID theft suspect.

Deputies say a man used the identity of a 72-year-old man to open lines of credit in the victim’s name at metro-area Target and Kohl’s stores, then went shopping with the temporary cards.

The suspect charged over $2000 worth of merchandise, deputies said.

The victim's caretaker first reported the possible crime after noticing some mail appeared to have been stolen. The victim then started getting calls and credit cards from the merchants.

If you recognize the illegal shopper, call the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
