DENVER -
A woman accused of wrapping a baby in a blanket and putting him in a closet with his face covered to muffle his crying has been sentenced to four years in prison in his death, with credit for time served.
Frances Garcia was sentenced Thursday in the death of 10-month-old Adam Gonzales last year. She had pleaded guilty to child abuse negligently causing death.
Ten-month-old Adam Gonzales was found dead in his home at 849 Tennyson St., on the morning of Aug. 5.
Prosecutors accused Garcia of wrapping Gonzales tightly in a blanket, placing him in a closet with a propped-up bottle and then covering his face with a blanket to muffle his crying during the night.
The child's mother, Amanda Lujan, has pleaded guilty to accessory to child abuse resulting in death. She is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 6.
