DENVER – A program that offers fresh, locally-grown produce to underserved communities in Denver is kicking off its second year.

Farm stands are popping up around the area and will begin offering fresh produce at a reduced cost. The program is a joint venture between Denver Human Services and Denver Botanic Gardens.

Produce grown at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms is available for purchase weekly at DHS offices in Sun Valley and Montbello on specific days. In addition, the Farm Stand program returns to the Union Station neighborhood. A fourth location has been added at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building.

The farm stands are open to all members of the community. Customers who use their SNAP food assistance program benefits card (EBT/Quest Card) qualify for additional discounts, including a Double Up Food Bucks Colorado incentive.
