Denver Police: Woman shot and killed in Denver, one man arrested

DENVER - Denver Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman late Friday night.

Police were called to the area of 13th Avenue and Pearl Street at 11:50 p.m. Friday.

They found a woman with a gunshot wound, she died at the scene, police said.

Denver Police said they arrested 40-year-old Clifford Dee Fordyce on suspicion of 1st-degree murder. Spokesperson Sonny Jackson said Fordyce knew the victim.

Neighbors told 7NEWS they heard police yelling "get down" inside a third floor apartment at 1317 Pearl Street. Police said Fordyce lived in that residence.

Fordyce has an extensive criminal record with arrests for menacing, burglary, assault and more dating back to 1990, according to records from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

The victim's name has not been released.
