Denver police search for hit-and-run driver who injured pedestrian

Child suffered a broken bone

Police are looking for a vehicle that hit a child then fled the scene late Friday night.

The child suffered a broken bone after being struck at West 23rd Avenue and Decatur Street, according a Denver police department tweet.  The child had been watching fireworks with his family, police said.

Traffic signs across the metro area asked drivers to be on the lookout for a newer model black GMC Terrain with some type of white letter on the back window.

However, police cancelled the Medina Alert because of "conflicting witness information," according to a tweet around 10:40 a.m.

They later sent out a crime alert, asking people to be on the lookout for a crossover-type SUV , similar to a NIssan Murano or GMC Terrain.
