DENVER - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Denver's Valverde neighborhood Tuesday night.
Officers were called to a home on West Cedar Avenue near South Tejon Street around 8:37 p.m. on a report of a man with multiple gunshot wounds, said Denver police spokesman Detective John White.
The wounded man was found lying in a front yard area, White said. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.
White said it appears there was an altercation between someone inside the home and someone outside the home before the shooting.
Police were searching for the shooter, but were still trying to gather a suspect description, White said.
"This is a part residential, part industrial area,” White said. “So we've got officers going door-to-door, and we'll also be looking to see if there's any surveillance video that we can pull to see if that will give us any clues to move on.”
White said police believe it was an isolated incident and neighbors do not need to be concerned for their safety.
Police say anyone who has information about the crime can anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867; or you can text CRIMES (274637) with the subject title DMCS and enter the message; or email metro-denvercrimestoppers.com.
