Denver Police investigating 2 car thefts that may be related

DENVER - Denver Police are investigating two car thefts on Friday morning that may be related.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of South Julian Way at 4 a.m. on a report that a man had been assaulted and his car taken.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Denver Police spokeswoman Mary McIver said police were looking for the stolen vehicle -- a two-tone, Chevrolet Camaro with a silver body and a white top. The car had a temporary tag number numbered 935574L.

Hours later, police were called to another car theft about 1.5 miles away.

Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson told 7NEWS three men went into a home in the 2600 block of South Hazel Court and stole the victim's car.

In that case, the victim was not seriously injured.

Jackson said the thieves took a silver KIA 4-door with license plate 777-JAQ.

Jackson said a car matching the Camaro's description was also spotted in the area of the second robbery.
