DENVER - Denver Police confirmed Tuesday that the man shot and killed by a homeowner on Sunday night was an intruder.
Officers said a man forcibly entered a home in the 3200 block of South Glencoe Street Sunday night and was confronted by the homeowner.
Investigators believe the intruder left, but created a disturbance outside.
The homeowner and the intruder had a second confrontation on the porch and the intruder was shot and killed, police said.
The coroner identified the deceased as 29-year-old Charles McLaughlin.
"Police investigators did detain and question the homeowner who was released pending further investigation," according to Denver Police.
The District Attorney's office will determine if the homeowner will face charges.
A 7NEWS check found that McLaughlin has a six-page Colorado criminal history, including arrests for burglary, auto theft, resisting arrest, DUI and violating of a protection order.
