DENVER - Denver police say they arrested a suspected gunman in the 700 block of South Canosa Court at about 2:45 p.m. Monday.
7NEWS photojournalist Brad Bogott reported from the scene that police said the suspect was in custody and the neighborhood is safe.
The arrest came soon after police sent phone alerts to dozens of residents in the neighborhood warning them an armed man might be in the area and to stay in their homes.
Denver police said the gunman was first reported at 1:44 p.m. in the 1700 block of West Tennessee Avenue. The suspect was arrested about an hour later, 1 mile north on South Canosa Court.
Denver police spokesman John White said there have been no reports of shots fired or anyone being injured.
A lockdown of Goldrick Elementary School because of the police activity in the area was lifted after the arrest and students will be released from school at the normal time this afternoon, Denver Public Schools spokeswoman Kristy Armstrong said.
