DENVER - The Denver District Attorney's Office said it has formally charged a 29-year-old man with murder in the March 26 shooting of his friend.
Timothy Wakefield was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Christopher R. Demarco, of Pennsylvania, authorities said.
According to an arrest affidavit, at about 8 p.m., Wakefield had been arguing with Demarco inside of his home in the 3200 block of West Avondale Drive when the victim left the home.
Denver Police said Wakefield came out of the house in his underwear holding a shotgun, pumped and aimed the gun at the victim and shot him one time from about 6 to 8 feet away.
Demarco was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, and police said he died during surgery.
Wakefield was taken into custody at the scene by an apartment security guard and remains in custody in the Downtown Detention Center.
He is scheduled to appear in Denver District Court on April 4, at 8:30 a.m., to be formally advised of the charge aginst him.
