IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. - A 44-year-old hiker who became separated from his hiking partner and spent the night in freezing temperatures in Clear Creek County before being found has died.
The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Joseph Ong, of Denver. They said he dissapeared while on a hike around mile marker 19 on Colorado Highway 103.
Authorities were notified he was missing at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and searchers looked for him until 5 p.m. before resuming Sunday morning.
Ong was found alive at 11:45 a.m. by search crews.
The sheriff's office said he later died from exposure.
