DENVER – A man is bravely sharing his story about how he was robbed at gun point, and the emotional trauma he faced.

The suspects are still on the loose, and he turned to Denver7 for some help to catch the robbers who stripped him of his dignity.

According to Denver Police Department, two male suspects are wanted for aggravated robbery that happened on August 13 at approximately 3:10 in the morning.

The robbery happened on 37th Ave. and Gilpin Street.

According to DPD, two suspects approached a man and demanded his property at gun point.

Bruce Chopnik was the victim in the crime, and came to Denver7 with horrific details in the crime.

“I was coming home from the Tracks night club,” Chopnik said. “It’s obviously close enough where I felt comfortable walking home.”

Chopnik lives about six blocks away from the night club.

However, on his way home Chopnik said he was followed by two men.

“They could have been waiting for one person or somebody coming around the corner from the club,” Chopnik said.

On the corner of 37th Ave and Gilpin Street, Chopnik said he was approached from behind and one of the men put a gun to his head and told Chopnik to continue walking.

“They brought over to this secluded spot off the street,” Chopnik said. “From there, they put me on my knees and held a gun to my forehead.”

Chopnik said he was then told to stand up.

“They then forced me to strip,” Chopnik said. “They did take a part of my soul that night.”

Chopnik is a patient of HIV, and has dealt with cancer in the past.

“The only thing I was thinking was I hope these guys aren’t going to take my hard work away,” Chopnik said. “I just kept waiting for that gun to go off.”

The robbers ended up letting Chopnik go.

However DPD obtained pictures of the suspects using Chopnik’s credit cards at an ATM.
