Denver convenience store owner arrested on drug charges

DENVER - A convenience store owner was arrested Friday on drug charges after an investigation that police say lasted several months and involved several undercover operations.

Detectives arrested Bisrat Haile, 45, the owner of Jerry’s Market at 601 N. Knox Ct. Police say that arrest was made without incident around 8:30 a.m.

In a search that followed the arrest, detectives say they found cash, drugs and a loaded gun. The cache of illegal substances included over 3,300 jars of Salvia Divinorum and Synthetic Cannabinoids, as well as several unpackaged of the drugs.

Police say this case began with a burglary investigation, several neighborhood complaints and Crime Stoppers tips.

Haile faces the charges of felony theft, theft by receiving, distribution of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances.
