Denver bomb squad sent to downtown Sheraton Hotel over report of a suspicious package

DENVER - A Denver bomb squad went downtown to investigate a suspicious package near a hotel, police report.

According to a tweet from the police department, the bomb squad was sent to 1550 Court Place. That address corresponds to the Sheraton Hotel.

A dispatcher told 7NEWS the suspicious item was discovered by a police officer.

A video from our partners at The Denver Post showed a bomb technician retrieving a suitcase from behind a bench, giving the thumbs-up to his colleagues and carrying the suitcase back to their vehicle.

Police say there were no road closures as a result of the investigation.
