EVANS, Colo. - Demolition work has begun at two mobile home parks in Evans that were destroyed by the September flooding.
Eastwood Village and Bella Vista mobile home parks were ravaged by the flood waters. When residents quickly evacuated, they left behind food, garbage, household chemicals, appliances and other items. Many of which have turned into a breeding ground for mold, rodents and bacteria.
The city of Evans requested $1 million for debris removal, which FEMA denied.
The land owners have stepped in and cleanup is expected to take 30 to 60 days, according to our partners at the Greeley Tribune.
Bella Vista owner Jim Feehan told the newspaper he is hoping to redevelop the area.
