GREELEY, Colo. - If you need dental care and can't afford it, Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is holding a free dental clinic on Saturday (Oct. 5).
Over 1,200 dentists, hygienists, other dental professionals and volunteers will be at the Island
Grove Event Center (501 N. 14th Ave., Greeley, CO 80631) to provide free dental treatment including cleanings, fillings, extractions and limited oral surgery.
Patients may also get free flue shots and DTaP immunizations (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis/whooping cough) vaccinations.
There will be more than 100 dental care professionals available for patients. Treatment will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis -- no appointments will be taken.
The clinic was also open on Friday, but the available spots filled up quickly. Patients can sign up for treatment on Saturday starting at 6 a.m., while spots last. Organizers suggest patients arrive very early.
This is the seventh annual COMOM and the largest dental clinic of its kind in Colorado.
"Access to dental care is a huge problem for many families, especially in this region of the state," said Dr. Joel Feinberg, COMOM site chair. "Thousands of individuals cannot eat, sleep, concentrate at work or function because of oral pain."
Children under 18 years old cannot be treated at COMOM without a parent present.
