Body found in burning apartment in Aurora early Thursday morning

Case is being investigated as a suicide

AURORA, Colo. - One person was found dead inside a burning apartment in Aurora early Thursday morning but investigators say the victim did not die in the fire, 7NEWS confirmed.

Officer Frank Fania says the case is being investigated as a suicide.

The fire broke out around 2:20 a.m. at 14343 East Kentucky Place, Aurora Fire Department said.
That's just a few blocks northeast of Interstate 225 and East Mississippi Avenue.

The Aurora Police Department mobile crime lab was at the home at about 3:45 a.m.

The fire was contained to the third-floor apartment, Aurora Fire Department officials said.

Remaining residents in that building of the Ridge Hill Apartments were evacuated because of toxic gases, investigators said.
