COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs man was arrested early Saturday after he ran away from police and tried to hide a handgun underneath a mail truck, police said.

Witnesses told police a man had a gun. When officers tried to talk to him, he ran off leading officers on a two block foot chase downtown, police said.

"The suspect was arrested as he was attempting to hide the gun under a mail truck at the post office located at the corner of South Nevada Avenue and East Pikes Peak Avenue," police said in a news release.
