During the summer season, cyclists flock to the town of Morrison to ride through scenic views on two wheels.
Business owners say many of those cyclists drive into town and leave their cars parked for hours in spots meant for customers.
“We have between a 150,000 and 200,000 cars travel through Morrison every day," said Morrison Officer Anthony Joiner.
Restaurant owner Butch Luedtke says every year around this time, parking spots outside his business fill up with cyclists instead of customers.
“I would probably estimate that certain times of the year and in the summer months, our business could probably be 25 percent better if we had adequate parking in town,” said Ledtke.
Police say cyclists park their cars at the 3-hour limit parking spaces for 8 hours or more.
For the next five months, Morrison Police will leave their patrol cars at the station and get on bicycles.
Police hope to spread awareness on the ongoing parking issues and ticket violators.
"We like the bikers, but we also want them to respect the traffic laws and our city ordinance when it comes to parking,” said Joiner.
