Customers pepper sprayed at phone store

Two men robbed a Verizon phone store near Southwest Plaza Sunday, pepper spraying store employees and customers inside.

The men took several iPhones before running from the store, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office tweeted the robbery happened around 5 p.m. and at least 21 people were affected by the pepper spray.  They were all treated at the scene and no one was hospitalized.

Witnesses described the two suspects as Hispanic males in their 20s, short in stature and wearing dark clothing.

The store is located at 8430 W. Cross Dr., on the northeast corner of the mall.
